BLRT Grupp shipped first sections of railway-pedestrian bridge to Stockholm
On May 15, the first three sections of the railway-pedestrian bridge, manufactured by Marketex Offshore Constructions, subsidiary of BLRT Grupp, were shipped to Stockholm. The total weight of the structures, dispatched to the place of assembly, is 1,750 tons.
"Construction of the busiest railway-pedestrian bridge in the centre of Stockholm is a special order for us, since such projects allow us to expand our production range, find new target markets to increase competitiveness and reduce risks, so as not to depend on the situation in the offshore oil and gas industry," explains Ruslan Diduhh, board member of Marketex Offshore Constructions.
Next year, the company should build and transfer to the customer another part of the bridge with a length about 200 meters and with a weight of 1,500 tons. In total, the company should supply at least 3,250 tons of steel structures for the Stockholm bridge.
Marketex Offshore Constructions experts will perform the final joint of the bridge sections directly in Sweden together with Implenia, general contractor of the project.
Since most of the railways, bridges and tunnels in the central district of Stockholm were built in the 50s of the last century, today they need modernization. The Getingmidjan railway segment is a link for all trains arriving from the south of the country, making it one of the busiest railway lines in Sweden.
